Our institution offers training programs in the surgical specialties of Hand Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Urology. Applicants undergo selection interviews to gain acceptance into the various surgical specialty programs. They undergo a 2-year common trunk SIG (Surgery-in-General) program before proceeding on to a further 4-year period of specialty training in their respective chosen specialties.
The SIG program aims to provide residents with a good grounding in the fundamental principles of surgical practice, and competency in basic surgical skills. We believe it is essential to build a strong foundation in order for subsequent specialty training to be most effective and rewarding.

Curriculum
The SIG Program Director works closely with the SIG Residency Advisory Committee (RAC), and Surgical Specialty Program Directors to plan training rotations according to their specific needs.
An example of SIG rotations:
Aside from the structured clinical training, residents will get opportunities to participate in various courses and workshops in areas such as patient safety, medical writing and communications.
