Adj. Asst Prof Koh Nien Yue

Dr Koh Nien Yue is a senior consultant with the Department of General Medicine, with a special interest in Palliative Medicine. She obtained her membership with the Royal College of Physician (United Kingdom) in 1998 and is a specialist in Internal Medicine since 2002. Dr Koh has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine. She is currently an adjunct with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Dr Chia Chung King is a consultant with the Department of Gastroenterology with special interest in hepatology. He is the current Chairman of the Internal Medical Training Program.

Dr Goh Kian Peng

Dr Goh Kian Peng is a Consultant at the Department of Medicine in Alexandra Hospital/KTPH, specialising in endocrinology and diabetes mellitus. He is in charge of the Diabetes Exercise and Inpatient Diabetes Programmes at Alexandra Hospital. He trained as a Human Manpower Development Programme fellow in UK from 2007 to 2008, during which he obtained a MSc in Molecular Exercise Physiology at the University of Aberdeen. His current research interests are the roles of 5′AMP-activated protein kinase, Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma, coactivator 1 alpha and Sirtuin 1 in the pathogenesis and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Having obtained the MMed in Family Medicine, Dr Goh is a collegiate member of the College of Family Physicians, Singapore and has been actively involved in the training and development of family physicians in Singapore.

Associate Professor Rajasoorya is a Senior Consultant in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. His subspeciality interests are in pituitary-adrenal disorders and other endocrine causes of hypertension. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh as well as a fellow of the American College of Clinical Endocrinologists. He was a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellow at the University of Auckland Department of Endocrinology as well as a Visiting HMDP Clinician at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester), University of Virginia and University of Oregon in the United States.

Dr. Philip Yap,trained in inter­nal med­i­cine and a spe­cial­ist in geri­atric med­i­cine, is a con­sul­tant geri­a­tri­cian with the Dept of Geri­atric Medicine.He is also an adjunct clin­i­cal lec­turer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Med­i­cine, National Uni­ver­sity of Sin­ga­pore. He has a keen inter­est in both the bio­med­ical and social aspects of age­ing, espe­cially in the areas of demen­tia, end of life care, sup­port of care­givers of elderly patients and the use of tech­nol­ogy in geri­atric care. He has pub­lished numer­ous papers in inter­na­tional peer reviewed jour­nals and is a recepi­ent of the ETAC research grant from Alzheimer’s Asso­ci­a­tion USA. He presently sits on the com­mit­tees of the Alzheimer’s Asso­ci­a­tion of Sin­ga­pore, the National Demen­tia Net­work at the Min­istry of Health and the board of the Exelon Advi­sory Nucleus Team of Novar­tis. He was a mem­ber of the team respon­si­ble for the Min­istry of Health Clin­i­cal Prac­tice Guide­lines for Demen­tia and also chairs the steer­ing com­mit­tee for Per­son Cen­tred Care and Demen­tia Care Map­ping in Singapore.

Dr Lieu Ping Kong works in the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital as a Senior Consultant. My area of interest and research is in urinary incontinence in the elderly.

Dr Mark Chan Peng Chew is currently an associate consultant in the department of Geriatric Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. My interest in Geriatric Medicine stems from the multi-dimensional approach to patient care offered by the specialty and the satisfaction of working with the elderly and their caregivers. I hope the internal medicine residency program will better prepare our junior doctors for the many challenges they will face to become well-rounded clinicians.

Dr Ranjana Acharya graduated from Christian Medical College, India in 1997. She arrived in Singapore in 2001 and has worked in Tan Tock Seng Hospital since, obtaining the MRCP(UK) from Edinburgh during this time. She went on to pursue the Advanced Specialist training in Internal Medicine, Singapore and am currently an associate consultant in the department on General Medicine. She is actively involved in and enjoy teaching in both the undergraduation and postgraduation education programmes.

A/Prof Lee Kim En, Head and Senior Consultant, Department of Neurology, has been actively involved in the teaching of medical students and the training of medical officers for many years. His passion and enthusiasm remain unrivalled as he continues to reach out to the many that hunger and thirst for knowledge both within and outside the field of Neurology. Always ready to lend a listening ear to the juniors, Dr Lee never fails to give his support to all who come under his supervision and mentorship.

Dr Noel Stanley Tay is currently a consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine with a special interest in lung and exercise physiology and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Received post graduate training in pulmonary rehabilitation at the University of Toronto in 2005/2006.
Strong advocator of bedside teaching. Believes that close mentorship and leading by example is vital in developing the full potential of trainees and students.
Nominated for the TTSH top 10 teachers award in 2005 as well as the NUS dean’s teaching award 2007.
